Bio Sculpture was founded and created in 1988 by Elmien Scholtz, a cosmetic science graduate, who had a vision to create a nail care product that not only looked beautiful but was long lasting, natural looking, durable and enhanced the natural nail. Since its inception Bio Sculpture has expanded into over 30 countries and the demand for the product continues to soar. The primary branded products are manufactured in-house and research and development remains a key focus within the Company.
The Bio Sculpture Timeline
1980 – Elmien Scholtz completed a CIDESCO (Committee International de Esthetique et de cosmotolagé) course in cosmetic science at the Stellenbosch Academy in South Africa.Elmien realized the need for a nail care product that was healthy, strong, beautiful and long lasting. She began extensive research and development utilizing her own salon La Femme in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
1988 – After extensive research and development, Bio Sculpture Clear Gel was registered as the world’s first soak-off gel, a nail hardening treatment that cured under a UV light with a crystal clear finish. Shortly after Bio Sculpture Sculpting Gel was developed, a flexible and durable gel that could create a natural looking gel extension, this was yet another first in the nail industry.
1990 – The first Colour Gel ‘Pillar Box’ Red was launched, providing a non-chip nail colour for up to three weeks, this remains our most popular colour to this day.
1997 - Bio Sculpture was launched in Canada by Peter and Nolene Nieuwenhuis. Bio Sculpture has remained at the forefront of the Canadian Beauty Industry since.
2010 – Treatment Gels were introduced into the product range, enabling technicians to customise treatments to suit individual needs according to the condition of their client’s nails.
2011 – Bio Sculpture released the luxurious Spa Products range.
2013 – Bio Sculpture Canada launches LED-curable gel allowing for curing time to be reduced to 30 seconds. Moving forward Bio Sculpture gels will cure in both conventional FL-UV lamps for 2 minutes, or in LED-UV lamps for 30 seconds.
Today – Bio Sculpture’s research and development is continually ongoing to ensure that we remain the leading nail care product on the market. New colours are launched into the collection twice a year for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter adding to the range that currently comprises of over 180 colours. Bio Sculpture is still the original and the only soak-off gel on the market that can sculpt and re-shape nails, whilst nurturing the growth of the natural nail.
Gels & Tools Used: Base Gel, Hard Gel/Medium-Gel, Colour Gels #103, #2017, #3, Gloss Gel, Deluxe Upper Arch Brush, Dotting Tool
1. On a well prepared nail, apply base layer of Base Gel, cure.
2. Apply Colour Gel #103 Orange Flambé to nail, cure and repeat.
3. With Deluxe Upper Arch Brush to create a curved line with Color Gel #2017 Liquorice, beginning at the cuticle and working its way midway through the nail. Repeat.
4. With Dotting Tool create dots with Colour Gel #2017 Liquorice that follow the outline previously created. Cure
5. With Dotting Tool create smaller dots with Colour Gel #3 Snow White inside the #2017 dots . Cure
6. Create Upper Arch with Hard Gel or Medium Gel. Cure
7. Apply final layer of Gloss Gel. Cure.
8. Wipe sticky residue off with Nail Cleanse.
